When you look at the Nokia brand it is obvious to think of the legendary phones of 15 - 20 years ago that have imprinted some particular values in the heads of the "no longer young". Reliability, good construction and durability are just some of these and it is obvious that any product baked under this name still reflects those principles.
An important expectation could not therefore be created divinebeautytips after the announcement of Nokia's arrival on the TV market also in Italy . So let's see in more detail the middle model of the new line up, or the 55 ' ' model with code name 5500A .
In pack
Inside the package there is, in addition to the TV, Google Ads PPC the
dedicated plastic stand, the backlit remote control with voice control and
Bluetooth connectivity, 2x AAA batteries and the manual, which in any case can
be downloaded online .

Materials and construction
Unfortunately, at first glance, this 55 ”Nokia Smart TV has very little to do with the concept of good construction and durability we were talking marketingmediaweb about at the beginning of the article. It will probably be a TV capable of lasting over time, however the construction and the plastics leave some time they find. The TV is light compared to the category, just 13 KG, and measures 1 meter 23 in width, 76 cm in height and just over 23 cm in thickness. What is most perplexing is precisely the plastic material with which it is built that gives a feeling of cheap and not very resistant product, so pay attention.
Even the stand is quite classic and not techcrunchblog very well cared for in design, the only positive note is that being central this allows you to position the TV even on a smaller piece of furniture and therefore also adapts to less favorable situations.
On the back there are all the ports:
• 4x HDMI type CEC (capable of nanobiztech actions such as turning on the automatic TV);
• 2x USB
2.0 for external storage devices and power of any sticks;
• optical
audio port;
• Audio /
video input (3.5mm);
• VGA
input;
• Headphone
holder;
• LAN
Ethernet;
• Satellite
antenna input;
• Digital
terrestrial antenna input;
• DVB-T2
support .
Unfortunately the ports are all close together, especially globalmarketingbusiness the HDMI ones, so connecting multiple devices at the same time can sometimes be difficult if you don't have some sort of extension cable.
On the other hand, the remote control that has numerous
buttons and among other things also the backlighting, a feature not so obvious
on the price range of this TV, is definitely complete. There are quick links to
Netflix and YouTube, numeric keypad to quickly move between channels, the
double button for volume and to go back and forth between channels as well as
the directional buttons and the button to activate the microphone.
Hardware and display
What's inside this Nokia Smart TV 5500A is nothing different
than the Nokia Streaming Box 8000, with DVB-T2 and Android TV available for
sale at 99 Euros ( on Amazon for example ), or ARM processor with four Cortex
A55 cores, Mali470 MP3 GPU, 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of eMMC memory.
More interesting, however, the display with 4K Ultra HD
resolution or 3840 x 2160. It is not an OLED or QLED but a simple LED LCD that
although it has support for the HDR10 standard and Dolby Vision still has
limits. First of all, the blacks are not particularly deep while in very dark
scenes the backlight stands out. More problematic, however, in our opinion, are
the reflections of the panel that protects the display, which obviously is
accentuated with dark contents, and the narrow viewing angle that forces you to
stay very front of the televisions under penalty of a decisive loss of
contrast. On the remaining areas of the image, on the other hand, the judgment
is positive: from brightness to the chromatic range.
The audio is offered by two 10W speakers with Dolby Digital
Plus, DTS technology, of discreet workmanship; the bass is not particularly
present but overall it is a positive aspect of this TV if you do not reach too
high volume levels.

Software: Smart TV thanks to Android TV
The peculiarity of course are the Smart functions offered by
Android TV to version 9.0 Pie . Not very recent but we expect an upcoming
software update as Android TV 10 has been available for some time now.
Having Android TV gives the product all the Smart features
it needs to take advantage of the various services that offer streaming
multimedia content. We are obviously talking about Netflix , Amazon Prime Video
, Disney + but also RaiPlay , Dplay and MediasetPlay but not only. In fact, the
software has its own Google Play Store where it is possible to find all the
compatible applications for screens of this size. Not only apps but also games
with which it is possible to spend a few hours of entertainment through the use
of the remote control or the connection of a Gamepad via Bluetooth.
Everything works correctly and smoothly. On the remote
control there is also a dedicated button to call up Google Assistant and give
commands such as "Open YouTube" rather than navigate between channels
or adjust settings. However, the microphone is located on the remote control
and when the voice recognition starts, the TV intelligently lowers the volume
to hear us better.
Android TV 9.0 is clear, simple to use and has everything you
need to manage the smart functions of a TV: there is also the presence of
Chromecast features to control the TV from your smartphone and transmit any
multimedia content.
Conclusions and where to buy Nokia TV 5500A
The Nokia Smart TVs have been available for a few months on
Amazon but officially starting in October. Several variants are available
including:
• 299.90
Euros for the 24-inch version ;
• 319.99
Euros for the 39-inch version ;
• 559 Euros
(instead of 699.90 Euros) for the 55-inch version (subject of this review);
The company certainly does not aim for the finest palates,
the price and quality in general say so, and all in all the product is discreet
but in our opinion far from the idea of a Nokia brand device. Our advice is to
evaluate the purchase when it will be discounted, perhaps on Black Friday , at
a price below 450 euros, otherwise the market is full of better alternatives,
such as some Samsung TVs from last year that thanks to the devaluation. they
have a more attractive quality / price ratio.
If, on the other hand, you have a well-functioning TV but
without DVB-T2 support, you can evaluate the Nokia set-top-box which has a
price of around 99 Euros.
