On the hottest summer days, your computer suddenly begins to shut down by itself? Have you noticed an excessive overheating of the case lately and want to know how to cool down your PC ? It is not a very simple operation but, as they say, extreme remedies for extreme evils.
Today I'll walk you through some useful practices to lower
your computer temperature and avoid hardware damage during the hottest days but
don't expect magical software. If you want to make your PC case cooler , you
have to arm yourself with a screwdriver and proceed manually, the old way. Here
is all explained in detail.
When the heat begins to be felt heavily, the first thing you
need to do if you want to find out how to cool your PC is to open the computer
case and eliminate all the dust inside it. The accumulation of dust, in fact,
can create obstructions that prevent the correct ventilation of the computer
and consequently lead it to overheat.
Then arm yourself with a screwdriver and, taking care to
turn off the computer completely, proceed to remove all the screws that hold
the case together. At this point, remove the side panels of the computer and
begin to eliminate all the dust that you find inside, especially that around
the fans . Try to be as delicate as possible and, if necessary, in the most
difficult to reach corners remove impurities using a can of compressed air.
Once the cleaning is complete, reassemble the case, turn on
the computer and you should immediately notice improvements. You can monitor
the internal temperature of the PC using programs like SpeedFan (I told you
about it in my guide on how to change fan speeds , do you remember?). To rest
assured, the CPU temperature shouldn't exceed 65 degrees much.
If the cleaning did not bring the desired results, you can
try to improve the situation and cool the PC by mounting an additional fan in
it . The additional fans cost very little (you can find them on online stores
at prices between 5 and 15 euros) and improve air circulation inside the case
by capturing the hot air that is released from the CPU cooler and throwing it
out.
Said like this it seems a very complicated thing, but I
assure you that assembling them is very easy. Just place them with the special
hooks along one of the slots on the PC case and connect them to the motherboard
(via 3-pin connector) or to the computer power cables (via 4-pin connector).
For more details, search YouTube for videos explaining how to mount additional
fans on PCs , there are many also in Italian.
If, on the other pointer, you want to protect a notebook
from the heat , follow the advice I gave you in my article dedicated to how to
cool a laptop PC and you should be able to spend this summer without major
computer problems.
